Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon - Mid Event Survey

(I'm posting this kind of late . . . sorry!)

1) What are you reading right now?

I have been reading the illustrated Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, but I'm about to switch over to a graphic novel . . . either The Walking Dead or The Lottery

2) How many books have you read so far?

Two - Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott and Stardust by Neil Gaiman (both of which I'd started before the readathon)

3) What book are you most looking forward to in the second half of the Read-a-thon?

Ummm . . . I don't know.
I'm loving the illustrated Harry Potter - I find the artwork completely captivating . . .
But I'd also like to read some of The Walking Dead and House of Leaves.

4) Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?

The first 12 hours were relatively free of interruptions . . .

5) What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?

Not many surprises this go around - I'm being quite casual about the readathon this time, though.

Mini Challenges

Mini Challenge #1 - Haiku/Short Story from TBR Titles:

The Walking Dead
Eating Animals
House of Leaves
Stardust

(My dog had chewed on the spine of Stardust a few years ago, so part of the word is missing)

Mini Challenge #2 - Draw it Out!

Draw a character from current read - I drew the Star from Neil Gaiman's illustrated novel, Stardust

Mini Challenge #3 - Book and a Snack

Late night snack of left over fries with a mix of ketchup, mayonnaise and Taco Bell diablo hot sauce to dip them in. Yum! Also have black tea to drink.

The book is the illustrated Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - the stunning illustrations are by Jim Kay. Only the first 3 books are out so far, and I'm dying to see the others . . .

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon - October 2018 - Beginning Survey

Getting to Know You Survey

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

I am reading from the beautiful little town of Pilot Mountain in North Carolina.

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

I think I'm most looking forward to the illustrated Harry Potter (I'm reading the first book, illustrated by Jim Kay - so beautiful! I might try and upload a couple photos of the artwork - it's truly stunning).

I'd also like to delve into The Walking Dead comics from Compendium One before the end . . .

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

I didn't plan snacks at all, and I have next to no food right now besides some frozen meals . . . I'll probably make a fast food run (or two) during the day, and tide myself over with coffee and tea in the meantime.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself.

I love doing leisurely stuff a lot, such as reading and painting, which tend to take up the majority of my free time, but I also love to get out and try different outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding . . .

Here's me hiking at Stone Mountain in NC with my two dogs, Libby and Nova.

Kayaking on the Dan River

5) If you participated in the last readathon, what's one thing you'll do different today?

I don't have a goal to finish a book . . . I think I'll just jump around a bit and read from a few of the books in my stack. I'll probably keep up with the number of pages read so I can report that at the end of the readathon, but I don't have a goal in mind. Just have fun!
