Read-a-thon Mid Event Survey April 2020

1) What are you reading right now?

I'll Have What She's Having: My Adventures in Celebrity Dieting by Rebecca Harrington - I am loving it, and the author's had me laughing out loud quite a few times. Celebrities have some very strange food tastes . . .

2) How many books have you read so far?

I've finished four books so far:

Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson
Visitations by Jenny Bates (poetry)
Catwings by Ursula K. Le Guin
The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl

I also read the first two Hans Christian Anderson fairy tales in the Mina Lima illustrated edition - The Little Mermaid and The Nightingale. I loved them both! I 'm enjoying Anderson's original fairy tales quite a bit more than the Grimm's original fairy tales I've tried. Anderson has more of a whimsical style that I really like.

3) What book are you most looking forward to in the second half of the Read-a-thon?

Preludes & Nocturnes (Volume 1 of the Sandman graphic novel series) by Neil Gaiman

It's midnight now, so not sure how much longer I'll be staying up, but hopefully I can at least finish the night with a graphic novel, as is my usual Dewey readathon tradition.

4) Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?

I had a 2-hour disruption in the afternoon - had to see about getting a new charger for my computer, and took the dogs for walk . . .

Despite not actually having many disruptions, this readathon really seemed to fly by, especially the first 10 hours or so . . . I remember feeling this way during the last readathon too.

5) What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?

How little time I actually have for blog updates and visiting other readers . . . there are so many good books I want to get to and so little time . . . I wish this could be a 48-hour readathon! LOL! ;-)

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon April 2020

Getting to Know You Survey

I'm posting this a little late, as per usual. It's 10:45am right now. I usually like to start the readathon by getting into a good book right away before I do my opening post.

I'm currently reading Fever 1793 right now and I'm really enjoying it - this is the first 1 of 3 'pandemic' books I plan to read while under 'stay-at-home' order these next few weeks (although, 2 of the 3 I hope to finish today).

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

I am reading from the quaint small town of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina - in the foothills of the Sauratown Mountains

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

I have two 'pandemic' books that I hope to finish today - Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson and The Transmigration of Bodies by Yuri Herrera.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

No snacks planned but I have 2 containers of Greek Yogurt, blackberries and some dry roasted almonds - I may have a smoothie later . . .

4) Tell us a little something about yourself.

I'm an elementary school teacher trying to get used to teaching online successfully in a way that reaches all of my students . . . but today, I'm going to take a break from all of that and just drink coffee and escape into a few good books.

5) If you participated in the last readathon, what's one thing you'll do different today?

I want to participate in more mini-challenges and update my blog more often - basically, I want to have more of an online presence than I did last readathon.
